UN Global Compact

UN Global Compact is the world wide movement of companies that endorse business ethics.

In August 2010 Van Os-Sonnevelt signed the Global Compact of the United Nations. By signing the document, the company commits itself to respecting the 10 principles of the Global Compact. These principles relate to working conditions and labour relations, gender equality and anti-discrimination, respect for the environment, social responsibility and anti-corruption.

From July 2011 onwards, you can read the annual Communication on Progress in the CSR section of this website. More information on the UN Global Compact and its reporting members can be obtained from the UN GC website.

Kauri

Kauri is the Belgian network for corporate social responsibility.

Van Os-Sonnevelt is a member of Kauri, the learning network of companies and organisations that wish to develop activities in a responsible and durable way. The 250 members of Kauri are privately owned companies as well as governmental bodies and non-governmental organisations who work towards more durability and in this process share ideas and insights with each other.

On the Kauri website you will find valuable information on all aspects of corporate social responsibility, a membership list with contact details en links to local and international CSR websites.

CFP

Corporate Funding Programme promotes the North-South dialogue.

Since 2004, Van Os-Sonnevelt is an active member of the Corporate Funding Programme. This organization works in close cooperation with FOS, the North-South movement of the social democrats in Flanders, supporting development programs in the South. The project we endorse is located in Chitima, Mozambique, where locals learn to use ox traction to work the land. Community workers use the training center as their homebase.

Corporate Funding Programme build bridges between humanitarian organizations and companies who wish to spend a part of their profits for development aid.

CBI

The Center for the Promotion of Imports trains rookie entrepreneurs.

Since 2008, Van Os-Sonnevelt through its division Expo-id upplies expertise to CBI, the Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports from countries with a developing economy. This Dutch governmental agency prepares entrepreneurs in countries with a developing economy for their first exports to Europe. Expo-id creates and implements workshops Effective Trade Fair Participation both in the CBI home-base Rotterdam and in target countries.

VOKA

VOKA – the network that defends entrepreneurs’ interests.

Since the very start Van Os-Sonnevelt is an active member of VOKA, the Flemish network of Chambers of Commerce. VOKA has a variety of services for both starting and experienced entrepreneurs and defends the interests of trade and industry in Flanders. Manager Gerard van Os is vice-president and past president of the Halle-Vilvoorde chapter of VOKA.

The VOKA website is a vast source of information for all aspects of entrepreneurship. Most of the information is available in Dutch only.

VEPEC

VEPEC gets communication off the beaten track.

Van Os-Sonnevelt is a structural sponsor of VEPEC, the Society for Promotion and Communcation. This association closely monitors developments in business communication and marketing and organizes refreshing events about marketing and communication, with lively debates, a zest of humour and networking opportunity as fixed ingredients.

The VEPEC website is in Dutch only and offers columns by various communication specialists, pictures of past events and an agenda of upcoming events.

Social economy

Van Os-Sonnevelt supports local employment projects.

Since 2008 Van Os-Sonnevelt supports the bike rental project Fietspunt of Groep Intro Vlaams-Brabant in Londerzeel. This project gives difficult to employ people a dual training: they become qualified bike mechanics and they have a First working experience. Employees at Van Os-Sonnevelt can use one of the company bikes to ride to and from the train station of Londerzeel.

In 2010, the organization Spectrum vzw and the municipality of Londerzeel started a company ironing service. This project too is fully endorsed by Van Os-Sonnevelt.
